How can we save water for future generations?

We can start by using less of it.  After taking a look at a couple studies and being conservative with my estimates I would say the average length of a shower for an American is between 5 and 7 minutes with men generally taking shorter length showers than women.  Older high flow shower heads typically flow at about 4 gallons per minute.  For a 5 minute shower you ing at about 20 gallons of water.  In a year that would equate to roughly 7300 gallonsof water. If you were to switch to a low flow shower head at 1.75 gallons per minute, you would use about 3200 gallons per year, saving 4100 gallons of water.  It is amazing how such a small change like switching your shower head can save such a dramatic amount of water.
